Rape

Sometimes I wonder, what is the rape of the black community? Then I just have to go out and take a look at the services we provide for one another. We complain that we are being held back by, ‘the white man’ but far be it from the truth. The truth is rape is more internal than external. Financially we over charge and under service each other. We nickel and dime to the point that it’s bordered exploitation and in the end it results in desertion of our clients. Never seeming to learn from our mistakes we take up new ventures that result in the same end. So I purpose not to support black business just because they are black. I stall supports businesses that treat me like I am a valued customer not a number. Being black in business does not give you the right to rape my wallet. We need to purpose ourselves to be good to our community but let’s take it beyond that we should be good to anyone that takes their hard earn dollars and decides to spend a little of it was us. Wealth comes from the understanding of good people skills; knowing when to give a little and when to take. So I say stop the rape.

Amen to that. So many times when you deal with "our people" they think that gives them the freedom to not only over charge but to undervalue you as a consumer and not provide the same level of support they would otherwise do to someone of another race.

Just my thoughts

ok but don't simply consider what the business can do for you. when choosing what businesses you support, also look at what that business is doing and has done for the community and the environment.

ooohhh, preach! I am "right here" with you on this issue. I actually had to stop frequenting my favorite restaurant because the service was so poor and the facilities so unkept. Believe me, I will WORK with a black owned business, but there's a line where you'd be a damned fool for spending your money where you're not appreciated as a valued customer.

Hopefully some black owned business that don't have their act together will feel the pinch on the cash registers and get their act together. Or so I pray.

Nice topic!

Damn! that piece caught me right there! Its so wonderfully written, couldnt have been well said.

People tend to play race at every instance, and catch you where they think you might be at your vulnerable best. I necessarilly dont have to obliged to you because of our skin color, you earn it. I evaluate the nature, the theme, the circumstance concerning the business and what you offer in respect to what you do, before I could be able to determine to what length do I offer my support.

I refuse to feel bad because of a sentiment about me exercising what I think is justifiable and responsible of my persona at that instant.
