Music Not To My Ear
Living a somewhat big building with apartment above and me I can not help but listen to all the drama that is literally going around me. This morning was no exception. I had planned on sleeping in late today because I really need the rest but instead I was awakened by an argument in the apartment right below me. I’ve met the occupant before she seem to be a nice lady talked bit loudly when on the phone that is about it. And you know someone is talking loudly when you can hear them in your apartment. Well I didn’t know she had a daughter until morning. Her name is Carmen the daughter that is I found out by listening to her curse like a barmaid for about an hour this morning. It’s like the world is going crazy I would ever curse at my Mother never. I love and respect her too much for that and besides I wouldn’t have any teeth left in my mouth if did. I raised in a quite home I think the loudest was me and my brother and that only happened when we fought.
My mother always told us be mindful of people around and always keep your voices down because you might disturb someone. We were all taught how to be considerate of the people who shared the space around us and I was raised apartments also but not like the ones in New York. The islands of the Bahamas where the duplexes were usually just two apartments together maybe that is redundant to say duplex and two together but whatever. LOL I was use to having neighbors on the side of me and they were an extension of family to me some of the times. Well New York is a whole different ballgame people do not care who they disturb during their high tempted augments, conversation or sex. They show no consideration of peace of mind of others. My neighbors that live next door to my apartment always say they never hear me and sometimes she comes to check to make sure I was still alive according to her. I Love NYC but I hate the noise that came alone with it. A brother can not rest because of people doing whatever and saying whatever as loudly as they can. Well I guess that is what comes along with living an apartment building but next time I am going to move where white people are they do not carry on like the blacks.

Nah, it's not a racial thing. White people can be just as loud. When I moved into my first apartment in Maryland, I could hear the white couple above me besides having relations, shouting up a storm from time to time. The same thing in my Chicago apartment.
I personally tried keeping as quiet as possible. That was easy since I didn't have much of a life...*LOL*. But the walls were so thin you could hear everything going on. I'll never forget it.
My Mom raised me the same thing to be mindful of those around me. I don't think people are taking that lesson to heart, though.
I don't think it's a racial thing either. NYC urban areas are really noisy and I HATE IT! My mom also raised me show consideration to all people. Currently, I live with three roommates from diverse backgrounds and I swear to you they are not mindful of others.
I live in a rowhome, and I have to hear the people next door yelling. The father," You didn't even wash up, you are dirty," to his kids.
But, in my house we get loud, for no specific reason. I'm a loud person, so...LOL.
But, then I think about how I have to hear the people on either side yelling, and I tend to lower my volume.
But sometimes I think you have to yell at someone. And it's better to do it in the comfort of your house, then outside with folk all in your business.
But being considerate of other people is important. Maybe everyone should just write each other strong-worded letters, when they want to yell.LOL

Hmmmm...I like the noise..hustle and bustle of the city...people yellin...maybe I'm crazy...Maybe I'm one of them as I turn on my music and believe I am concert...sorry...lol
Yes, it's not a racial thing. My Mom lives in a rowhouse. When I used to live with her, I could hear her White neighbors (mother and son) arguing.
